Several sites are reporting that Wyclef Jean will run for president of Haiti. Apparently Jean will announce his candidacy tomorrow night on Larry King Live.
Jean is of course most well known for his musical talents but the Haitian-American has been a strong advocate for Haiti and founded the Yele Foundation. The foundation has had a direct impact on the country by creating "over 3,000 new jobs, close to 7,000 children being put in school, more than 8,000 people a month receiving food and approximately 2,000 young people a month learning about HIV/AIDS prevention."
Here are some more details from Jean:
"I've always promoted Haiti in my music, since my first album with the Fugees where we talked about what Haitians are going through and about human rights for people around the world,"This is how we came in the game, we never thought we were going to be music stars because the topics we talked about were not very popular in mainstream music."
