It's the middle of summer and things are heating up. Global Warming might not be the only cause you know... Going Green with your great guy or gal may seem like a good idea at the time, but when it comes time to go out and actually have some fun, you may find a few interests conflicted. How do you have fun and relax and be a responsible citizen of Planet Earth at the same time?
Fortunately care2 has a couple ideas about going green while going on dates. You don't have to go driving all over the place, eating take out food, and generally wasting energy to have a good time. These creative tips may seem a little tame, until you open your eyes to the possibilities ahead of you. Take a minute to look over the ideas, then work your brain to really personalize them and get your romantic juices flowing.
In case you need a kick-start. with some of my favorites:
Turn down the heat. It goes way beyond just saving your heating bill. By reducing your energy, you are reducing the need for harmful energy sources to drain away our dwindling reserves. Now you're not only being economical, but you're being green. By sharing your heat with your mate... now you're really getting romantic.
Summer heat getting you down? Well, the same logic applies! By keeping your A/C turned off, you are not only saving money but the planet as well. And while you're at it, you're giving yourself a nice excuse to shed a few extraneous layers of clothing. Just think of all the fun you can have there. Don't forget to share a nice cool shower together to cool off!
Turn off the lights. While it's always a good idea to turn off the lights (even your energy efficient ones), when you leave the room. Maybe you could spend some time without the lights in the room you're in together. Candles make a wonderful romantic atmosphere, and with minimal effort, you can make sure they're sourced green. After the romantic dinner, I'm sure that you can think of a few other romantic activities to try with the lights off.
Have a green picnic, and Keep the car home and walk. It's easy to combine those two. Work on a simple, portable dinner you two can share and hoof it over to the nearest patch of greenery and enjoy! Grab a flying disk or other fun diversion and you can even work off the meal you just ate. If you are lucky enough to live near a farmers market, you might even be able to pick up some fresh fruit and produce on the way and make your meal on the spot! Nothing beats a freshly made fruit salad on a warm summer afternoon!
So take some tips from care2 , take some time, and take some thoughts, mash them all together and there is no doubt that you can come up with some creative, fun, and eco-friendly tips for you and your special one. And if you have any great tips or ideas you'd like to share, please send them to me or post them here! I'll take some of the best ones I can find and share them back with you. Recycling! Everyone wins!
