iStock_000017226799XSmall_1_.jpgAcne can be a frustrating condition.  Many of the beauty products marketed to treat acne actually make it worse.  Cleansers strip the oil from the skin over drying it.  This causes the skin to over produce oil resulting in more acne.  Toners also strip the skin. Many acne spot treatments contain ingredients that are toxic, that irritate the skin and make it photosensitive increasing chances of getting skin cancer.

Luckily Mother Nature has given us many natural remedies for acne.  There are herbs, botanicals, essential oils and more that can help heal acne without all those side effects.

Below are 3 spices that can be used to treat acne:

Cinnamon - mix with honey to make a mask

Turmeric - make a paste with coconut or sesame oil and apply to 20 minutes before bed.  Make sure it is dry so the turmeric doesn't stain your pillow.  Wash off in the morning.  Do this nightly for 1 or 2 nights until the acne is gone.  You can also use this on your entire face for 5-10 minutes for a soft, glowing complexion.  If you have fair skin, test a small patch to make sure it doesn't stain your skin.

Saffron - mix saffron in water apply it to blemishes.  It will cure blemishes and add glow to the skin.
