Need the most fabulous gift ever for the skater in your life? How about the most beautiful skate boards on earth that are also made with sustainable materials? Finding something like this under the tree could seriously rock a person's world. Before you buy any other skate board, you have to check out these eco friendly options from BAMBOO SK8 and FREEDOM DOLLY.
Did you know that skateboards have surpassed the furniture industry in contributing to maple deforestation? Who would have thought? Fortunately, there are some wonderful options for the eco minded skater. And even if you're not eco minded, who wouldn't want these?
Look at these gorgeous skateboards. Seriously, they are art, I want to hang them on my wall. The idea of scuffing these up makes me cringe, but that's what they're for. Though somehow I think when you have a skateboard this beautiful, you might be just a little more careful.
Freedom Dolly makes "rideable renewable forest products" that are unique and earth friendly. They specialize in longboards and cruisers all hand made from eco friendly, sustainably harvested bamboo. Artist Matt French comes up with compelling designs that range from the cheeky panda with bamboo logo to bad ass piranha fish. They have a great variety to choose from, but I am partial to the Fruity Stripes board (pictured left) with all that color and the beautiful variations in the bamboo. Check out their full line here.
If you like Japanese woodblocks, look at this cool graphic octopus reminiscent of Ukiyo-e on this OCTOBOMB cruiser (pictured above) from Bamboo Sk8. Also made from sustainable bamboo, the stripes on the deck are gorgeous and that octopus is spectacular. Even the wheels are eco and Bamboo Sk8 donates a portion of their sales to the National Wildlife Federation. At the moment they are offering $5 off for signing up for their newsletter, you can view their selection here. Both boards are complete and ready to go and would make a killer gifts.
