Warmer temperatures always inspire me to organize my closets and see what kind of seen better days clothing I can weed out. Normally, I donate anything that no longer fits me or has gone out of style to local charities, but I’ve been trying more and more to turn these pieces into something practical for my household. I guess you could call it a green lifestyle change that has become part of my regular routine. Not only is it fun to think outside of the box and stretch my imagination – it’s also fulfilling when I can turn something that was doing me no good (collecting dust in the closet) into an everyday resource that I can create with my own two hands.
We all know that there are plenty of things that can be made out of old jeans and worn out t-shirts, but what about sweaters? That question led me to the internet (of course), where I began to visit what seemed like thousands of websites and blogs for the perfect source of inspiration. I have to admit that I was blown away by all of the amazing ideas and projects people came up with…in fact, there were so many crazy-cool ones out there that I just had to share the cream of the crop with the Greenwala community. I hope that you, like me, realize that you can probably stay out of a store for the next year just by cutting and sewing up your oldies into really neat goodies. This is one of the greenest things that I think we can all do – just a little sweat-er equity is all it takes!
