Win a House and Help Villagers Get Clean Drinking Water at the Same Time!

Doesn't everyone deserve clean drinking water?  Did you know that "A child dies every 15 seconds due to unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation, and hygiene." (Unicef) In response to this statistic, a family from Louisville, KY is raffling off their home and moving to the Dominican Republic to work with Edge Outreach in a clean water initiative.

What does this have to do with you?  Well, you can give toward their clean water initiative by purchasing a raffle ticket(s).  Raffle tickets are $50 each and the cost of the ticket is tax-deductible because it is going to a 501(c)(3).  So, you are saving some tax money right away, you are helping with a clean water initiative, and you have the chance to win a home valued at 250,000!

This home is located in a very nice part of town.  It has 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, two car attached garage, fireplace, deck in back, large yard...all the amenities a growing family would desire.  For more pictures and information about this house, the clean water initiative, and to purchase raffle tickets, visit www.edgeoutreach.com/rafflehouse

If you purchase a ticket or two, would you leave a comment to let me know?

Molly -- Thanks so much for letting Greenwalas know that they have an opportunity to win a house and help villagers get clean drinking water at the same time. This seems like a remarkably generous opportunity -- plus such a worthy cause -- for a minimal upfront investment. I read somewhere that thanks to the recession, people are cutting back on donating to charitable efforts, but when you know that it's tax deductible and your money is supporting the work of a legitimate charity, I think that it's easier to work into your budget. Plus, it's like getting a rush of endorphins -- you just FEEL so good knowing that a little good is being done in a small corner of the world. I'm going to tell my wife about this right now. ;)

Thanks for your feedback, Bob. I agree 100% - giving and helping others really makes you feel so good. My husband and I bought raffle tickets for this house and we feel great knowing that it is going to such a good cause. Even if we don't win the house, we won't feel like we wasted our money...because we know it is going to a great cause. One in which we would love to be able to help with on a more personal level.
