Sometimes the best best tech is low tech. Wasted rubber is in abundant supply...largely in the form of used tires. California-based design firm Minarc have come up with a slick and stylish way to transform those old tires into a bathroom sink that is sure to be a conversation starter.
Minarc calls the sink design RUBBiSH, and the "skins" are created by melting down old tires and cleaning them thoroughly. The material is then formed into a sheet that is stretched over whatever frame the consumer prefers and simply anchored down by the drain collar.
If all goes well, Minarc will make two standard sizes available for retail. One would be a single 36 inch sink and the other a five foot long double basin sink.
Would you rock a recycled rubber sink in your house?
