The most important reason to green your life is to demonstrate respect and compassion for the wildlife and the environment. Every choice we make in our personal lives has an immediate direct effect on the wildlife and delicate precious eco-systems. This is especially true for the cosmetics, personal care, cleaning, and laundry products we use.

When you open a bottle of commercial shampoo or detergent, two things happen at the same moment. The volatile vapors from the toxic petro-chemical fragrance escape the bottle and fill the indoor air. Then, as the shampoo is rinsed down the drain, it seeps into the groundwater and escapes into the outdoor air. The same thing happens to the volatile vapors. Ultimately, both escape into the outdoor air, affecting the air, groundwater, nearby bodies of water, and the wildlife.

According to Greenpeace USA, the toxic petro-chemicals from the fragrance cause tremendous horrible pollution, putting the vulnerable eco-systems and wildlife in serious danger.

The solution is simple. The wide array of healthy, safe, organic, green products available at your local health food store make it very easy and simple to green your life and replace all the toxic offenders in your home. It is very important to vote with your wallet and contribute to those conscious aware companies who genuinely care about the environment, the humans, and the animals.

The first step is to become an avid empowered ingredient label reader. Take a close look at the ingredients on a bottle of shampoo. If you are able to read ingredients, like peppermint, coconut, or lavender, that clearly grow in the ground, then, the shampoo is safe enough for you to use. However, if you see ingredients that are long, difficult to pronounce, and require a science degree to decipher them, chances are, your safe smart choice is to pass it by and not purchase it. When we vote with our wallet and buy green, we make our voices heard and we send a loud strong message that we care very deeply about respecting and protecting Mother Earth.
