Thanksgiving is almost here and plenty of eating and drinking is sure to ensue! (At least at my house :)) Holidays are a great opportunity to make your voting dollars count. If you're going to buy beverages for your dinner guests this year, why not let those purchases vote for the environment? Plus, you can have some sustainable drinks to go with your organic & local food! :) Here are ways to drink up low impact style...

1. Buy your holiday bevs from local businesses like The Oaks Gourmet Market or Locali right here in Hollywood. When you make purchases from local businesses, your supporting your community (what it's all about during the Holidays) as well as stimulating the local economy!

2. Buy organic and sustainable beverages. Give a market to organic products this holiday season by dazzling your dinner guests with delicious, organically-grown liquid delights! Likes this organic Mothership Wit beer or this organic Martinelli's sparkling apple cider or some organic wine.

3. Sustainable packaging. Try to avoid plastic or Styrofoam packaging and go with glass. You can reuse it yourself, instead of relying on it to be recycled. Check out these wine bottles made from Eco-glass, using 25% less glass than regular wine bottles.

4. Cups. If you don't have enough regular dining glasses for the amount of people your hosting, enlist some of you glass jars for the job. They'll do just fine, or you could go to Goodwill and get a few more glasses to have in reserve for occasions such as these. Try to avoid disposable cups to cut down on the waste from your holiday extravaganza!
