Phew, you survived Thanksgiving! But we've still got a whole month of holidays ahead of us. This month, I thought it would be fun to highlight a few of my favorite eco- and vegan-friendly wines and spirits for the holidays, starting with CalNaturale's award-winning, mother-nature approved wines.
Sorry Franzia, cheap, boxed wine is out, but inexpensive, great tasting Tetra Pak wine is in!
Both varietals of CalNaturale wine are made with Paso Robles grapes that have been farmed organically, without the use of any pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. They also come in lightweight, unbreakable and completely re-closeable Tetra Pak packaging; no wasted wine and completely recyclable! Yup, just like those delightful coconut waters you see in the grocery store, although, I would be careful not to mistake them. Tetra Pak flexible packaging has half the carbon footprint of wines in glass bottles.
I've tried and enjoyed both the Cabernet and Chardonnay varieties. Although typically a white wine girl, I can't play favorites in this case. The Chardonnay is light and well-balanced with aromas and taste of apples, pear and a hint of citrus. The Cabernet is full-bodied, and delivers rich flavors of berry fruits and the aromas of spicy black currants, with a hint of French oak. Perfect for Christmas dinner.
