We've all been there - after a long night on the town (or doing some important work) it's past midnight and hunger strikes. There aren't a lot of late night food options and those that you can think of are certainly not healthy. But you may be surprised to learn that you can get a decent vegetarian meal at the most famous 24-hour establishment: Denny's. Sure, this restaurant isn't known for having healthy food, but if you're desperate to appease your stomach at 2am it can certainly do the trick no matter what your diet.
Here are some plant-based (and dairy-free) items you can order right off the menu:
- Veggie Burger on Whole Wheat or Sesame Seed bun (Amy's Veggie Burger made from fresh organic grains and vegetables)
- Bagel or English Muffin
- Tortilla Chips (*double check that the location doesn't fry them with animal products) w/ Pico de Gallo
- Garden Salad with Light Italian Dressing
- Fruit or Veggies, including Baked Potato and Sautéed Mushrooms. Also available: corn, spinach, and green beans.
- French fries may or may not be vegetarian - ask if the potatoes are fried in the same oil as animal products (like fried chicken)
If you eat dairy you will have a lot more options - just be sure to clarify with the waiter that the vegetarian item does not contain meat broths or additives.
If you have specific food allergies you can check out their allergen chart here.
