CorbisImageKidsCats.jpgSharing a Bed with Your Cat: The Benefits and Drawbacks

Any cat owner knows what it's like to share a love with your kitty. Your cat truly becomes your child, as Star, our grey calico, has become for us. Nothing can compare to how much a truly loved cat is spoiled.

Cats, by nature, are very independent yet loving creatures. They also believe they are entitled to everything, should they want it. Therefore, anything could become a plaything or their newest favorite bed.

But you know what, that little kitty makes the all rules.

The only drawback to sharing the bed with our cat is that she is more of a hog than a cat. Often, I find myself smashed up against my boyfriend while he is practically hanging off the edge of the bed. Star, in the meantime, is sprawled out, spread-eagle taking up about one third of the queen-sized bed. We wake up the next morning with stiff necks and odd ailments all attributed to our acrobatic sleeping positions.

Despite our constant need for a chiropractor I will tell you, as will any other cat owner that it is all worth it. Going to sleep or waking up next to a furry, fluffy purring fuzzball is truly heartwarming. No matter where she decides to make herself comfortable, whether it's on my neck, kneading my stomach, or right next to us, we know we couldn't be loved more. And the feeling is mutual.
