recycling craft time

My first blog!..exciting right?

I don't really have much to say...just a cool art project that some may enjoy if they have any free time and are wonding what can be done with those extra newspapers, magazines, and books laying around the house...I started making paper flowers out of them...its really simple..all you do is twist a page around a wire or pipecleaner or something and glue it. That forms the stem. For the petals you just cut out the shape you want from the paper that you choose to use, and glue them on one by one. I start from the center with the smaller petals and then work my way out. I've found that to be the simplest. As you move out cut the petals a bigger and bigger until you're satisfied with your flower. When you're finished you can just recycle the paper that you didn't use.

They're great for gifts or decorations. Give some fresh flowers longer lives and create your own artistic decor/gift!

What a great idea Gabrielle! My little ones come home from school with paper flowers which are made from colored tissue paper. Can't wait to share your idea with their teachers when school is in session this September. Bravo!!!!! ~* Best wishes, Jen *~

I'm glad that you like it...I forgot one of the steps though..to make the petals more durable it helps if you wrinkle them up a bit before gluing them on...it makes them more sturdy.

This is a great idea, I have a 4 yr old daughter and am always looking for new crafts to do with her, that don't require a trip to the craft store. Thanks!
