solar-water-heater-md.jpg            HAWAII IS MANDATING IT!

Solar is growing in leaps and bounds and becoming more and more affordable.  Now that corporations can see they can make money off producing solar products and the demand is ever increasing, cities and countries are beginning to require at least solar heating on any new roofing and, indeed on existing ones. The door has opened and solar is rushing through it.

"It is estimated that more energy from sunlight hits the Earth in a single hour than human beings use in an entire year. Sunlight is free and abundant, so it makes sense that we would want to use it as a source of energy. However, while most people only think of solar panels that directly produce electricity, such photovoltaics (PVs) aren't the only way to harness solar energy. For many, there's a more financially and technologically viable option in the process of heating water from sunlight."  http://www.thedailygreen.com/green-homes/latest/homemade-solar-water-heaters-460709?src=nl&mag=tdg&list=dgr

Or you can go the whole way with

new Solar Tiles

(re-published)

The curved design of the tile allows for greater air circulation under and around the tiles, helping to prevent degradation in performance caused by the region's desert heat.

This makes so much sense...every area exposed to the sun is a potential energy capture source and now...we can have beautiful roof tiles as well.  Things are accellerating so fast.  Every day I see new innovations on the market - mostly overseas though.

This is a major shift from the flat panels, a cost analysis will be needed.   Next we will have thin solar film on our windows that not only reduce the sun's heat coming in but also generate electricity.  Then solar cars.  Look at all the exposed metal - the hoods, the roof, the trunk and even the panelled doors...someone will come through with this soon.   Getting off our addiction to oil dependency may not be as difficult or as slow as we think.  Wow...a true win, win. So many exciting new products coming on line. My only outstanding question is what happens with the end-life-cycle of the panels or tiles when they are finally disposed of into our landfills?  How will this affect the environment and human health?

Go solar!
