Are you a green newbie? Or already green, but feeling like you want to do more to help? There are many avenues to getting involved on a small or large scale. I know as my footprints become greener, I want to do more. I am still learning and converting to a healthier green lifestyle at home. I know this will be a go as you learn process. My main source of income is through a health and green business that has EPA & DFE Logo endorsed Home Products called Zoe Clean, which makes us very proud. EPA stands for the Environmental Protection Agency, and the DFE stands for Designed For The Environment. They also tithe 10% of all company profits to 5 different organizations that have missions here and abroad. Recently they drilled two wells for water in India and are now involved in building an orphanage there. If you would like more information here you can go to www.zoelifestyle.com/mspell. I thoroughly enjoy working with like-minded people!
If you are wanting to build friendships with environmentally conscious individuals and expand your green footprint, one way would be to log into your city or towns website. See if there are any environmental groups that meet, or conservation volunteers. Search the website to see what the groups are currently doing in your community. These groups and volunteers are a wonderful way to make new friendships, and also widen your knowledge of helping our environment. Where we live they meet frequently and are regularly involved in cleaning up the beaches, helping protect the Sea Turtle eggs, tree planting, cleaning the debris from the side of roadways, and helping establish wildlife habitats. There are always project leaders who will show you how you can assist.
Of course there are other ways of helping expand your green footprint within your workplace, neighborhood and community. My neighbors and I often swap items such as DVD's, clothing, cookware, books, meals and even gardening. It helps us save money and reduce our own carbon footprint! Anything we don't swap we donate. My adult children have also swapped with others online from Craigslist. This is a website where you can find individuals willing to swap or sell used items from all over. They have swapped items such as pets, pet supplies and trading out a paintball gun. You can go to www.craigslist.com. There is another online website called www.freecycle.com that also has some areas to locate swaps, and recycled goods.
Another way to find some other like-minded ‘green' friends, is online communities and blogs that are focused on healthier green living. Some forums I visit are www.Greenwala.com, www.treehugger.com, and www.greenpeace.com. The green blogging community is quite large and is a great way to learn and make friendships by commenting on their topics.
