Last night, I worked at a workshop on branding, put on by Women of the Green Generation (http://www.womenofthegreengeneration.com/). While we were setting up, the caterer, Meg Taylor, founder of Large Marge Sustainables, arrived in a most delicious smelling vehicle. She started unloading her dishes, utensils, and delectable entrees to later be devoured. Her entire arrangement was completely sustainable, with not a single thing made out of plastic.
Her dishes included a spicy green soup, a cabbage and walnut salad, and tortilla chips-scrumptious, healthy things to munch on. Everything was either vegan or vegetarian. The soup was warm and smooth with a little kick, the salad had an Asian flair, and the tortilla chips had just the right amount of crunch. The food was very well received by everyone at the exclusive event. By the end of the night, everything was almost completely eaten.
After the event was finished and I was home, warm and snuggly in my bed, I went straight to her website to see what other kinds of tasty treats her catering service offered. Large Marge Sustainables offers main courses, soups, salads, sides, desserts, and drinks. They are all pescatarian-diet focused and have a creative finesse which, I can imagine, only adds to the superb taste such as baby eggplant parmesan with curried kale, or sweet corn and mushroom gnocchi with brown butter and pineapple sage. The most interesting service Large Marge Sustainables offers is a picnic service-whether the picnic is at a residential home or a park, they will deliver a farm-fresh picnic basket to you, which sounded like a perfect Mother's Day outing to me.
Everything about Meg's business is sustainable from the vehicles they drive, the outlets they select their food, the materials the dishes and the glasses are made out of, even the way everything is cleaned. Meg Taylor is a wonderful woman who works with a smile on her face and is contributing to the conservation of the environment in a unique and wonderful way.
