" The quickest, most affortable way to reduce fossil-fuel dependency and emissions is to boost efficiency, because vast quantities of energy are lost. "  Source: Lawerence Livermore National Laboratory and US Department of Energy. (Latest data 2007)................

The quantity of US Enegy Flow (Quadrillion Btu) that is produced and consumed are detailed below:---------

1. PRODUCERS ....... Petroleum (39.81)... Biomass (3.61)... Coal (22.76).... Natural Gas (23.63)....

Geothermal (0.35).... Wind (0.31).... Hydro (2.46).... Nuclear (8.41).... Solar (0.08)............................

2. Electricity Generation (40.46)... Electricity generation comes mostly from coal, some natural gas, nuclear, hydro, wind, geothermal, and very little from petroleum, biomass, solar etc....... Most of the Electricity is consumed by residential, commercial, industry and very little by transportation. ............

3. Consumers ... Transportation (29.03)... Industrial (24.84)... Commercial (8.47).. Residential (11.43)......

Transportation use about 70% of Petroleum.... Industrial use about 25% of petroleum and about 5% is used by commercial and residential.............About 70% of the natural gas is used by Industrial, commercial and residential units. And about 30% of natural gas is used for electricity generation. Biomass is mostly used by Industrial............

4. Total Usable Energy is (43.04)....  Wasted  Energy (58.47)..... The majority of energy waste/inefficiency  comes from the segments of electricity generation and transportation. These two segments may account for almost 80% of wasted energy and inefficiency. If efficiencies can be boosted in these two sectors, then we can realistically HOPE TO REDUCE FOSSIL-FUEL DEPENDENCE AND EMISSIONS. This is the way forward to tackle global warming and our own well being.
