As Earth Day passes, we are all reminded of how important it is to make an effort to help make the world a better place. A clean Earth is essential to the longevity of our planet and what better way to maintain cleanliness than to recycle. We recycle almost everything from clothing to paper and today I decided to "recycle" something else-my hair.

Every few years I donate my hair to a great cause, Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Many have heard of Locks of Love, a hair donation program for children, but Pantene has started a program of their own. They create wigs for woman with cancer by using a combination of six ponytails to make just one wig! That means they rely on a lot of donations.

(Before & After shots)

The requirements are quite simple. Length of the hair needs to be eight inches from just above the hair tie to the end of the ponytail. Semi permanent hair dye is okay as long as there has been no bleaching or chemically treated hair. Make sure the hair is clean and dryed. No more than 5% of the hair may be gray.

Just cut the ponytail off and stick it in a plastic baggie and then send to the address listed below.

Pantene Beautiful Lengths
Attn: 192-123
20770 Westwood Dr
Strongsville, OH 44149

Pantene offers free wigs to woman battling cancer who can find out more information on their availability by contacting the American Cancer Society at 1-877-227-1596.
