Next Organics: Dark Chocolate Covered Treats

Sitting on my break at work I am tempted by the bag of Next Organics Dark Chocolate Goji Berries in my purse. It is the perfect snack size: four ounces. The dark chocolate is not too sweet and the goji berries are dried and slightly crunchy. This delightful little bag of joy is the perfect afternoon energizer. My other favorites by Next Organics include their Dark Chocolate Covered Ginger, Dark Chocolate Covered Bananas, and Dark Chocolate Covered Coconut. The bananas are soft and flavorful. The coconut is actual, non-processed slices of coconut meat. Next Organics also offers other fruits and nuts slathered in their dark chocolate: cherries, apricots, brazil nuts, walnuts, almonds, cashews, and pretzels.

Next Organics features seventy percent cacao dark chocolate and one hundred percent eco-friendly packaging. The Next Organics brand was started in 2009 by Tropical Valley Foods, a producer and distributor of natural and organic food products. Their products include dried fruits, chocolate covered fruits, nuts, and jerkies. The company is owned and operated by Eric Bertheau.  They support and practice environmentally sustainable growing methods and equitable relationships with the growers. They are based in the North-Country, Up-State NY, while the chocolate coating happens in California. Its ingredients are sources from a multitude of places, including South-America, Asia and, importantly, domestically in the US.

Next Organics and Tropical Valley Foods are available in most health food stores and regular grocery stores in the US. The price of a four ounce bag of chocolately treasure is approximately four and a half dollars.
