New Farmville-ish Facebook Game Helps Save Real Endangered Species

Farmville is stupid. Yeah, I said it. I don't care how many billion monthly players they tout. It's pointless. I actually had someone once tell me they had to get off the phone because they had to feed their animals. I responded, "Animals...what animals?" To which they replied, "My Farmville animals."

A new Farmville-esque Facebook game, on the other hand, actually allows the participation of its players to impact real world conservation efforts.

Crisp Green says,

In MyConservationPark, which launches later this week, players are challenged to create and sustain a livable habitat for endangered animals like tigers and orangutans while protecting the animals from human and environmental threats.

The better the animal's habitat, the more Conservation Cash and Good World Game you earn. Buy assets to improve your park like plants, animals and park rangers and improve your hero animal's habitat.

15% of all in-game purchases will be donated to conservation organizations like Sea Shepherd and Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

I think this is a pretty cool idea, personally. People are going to spend time and money playing Facebook games, so why not make a difference through doing it. I say it's better to join 'em...don't even try to beat 'em.
