Collecting rain water in a rain barrel is a GREAT way to make your gardening and lawn care a bit greener. Unfortunately, using that water often means plugging in an electric pump to pump the water from the barrel to another location -- be it a far away garden plot or a sprinkler.
This cool solar powered sprinkler concept would eliminate the need for such a pumping method. Ecofriend says,
The hose is fitted and a water source is turned on. The electric motor starts operation with the help of water pressure and the arms of this sprinkler start moving in a spiral manner. But, in case there is any drop in the level of energy derived from sun, the robotic valve will not open. This will stop water flow even if someone is not around to do the needful.
The designer has skillfully used injection and blow molding for this highly efficient Solar Sprinkler. Carbon black polyethylene has been used to craft its core body, while the stand has been made from anodized aluminum. Such an arrangement makes it sturdy and prevents further damages. It can fit in a wide temperature range and the functioning won’t be hampered at all.
Pretty cool, don't you think? I would love to see a solar powered pump, sans sprinkler, that was capable of pumping the water from a rain barrel to any area or device for multiple uses. What other uses could you think of for this concept?
