Many bike riders these days forgo the dedicated bike computer in favor of using their smartphone with an app like iMapMyRide, MyTracks, or another GPS-based app.
This gives you the benefit of being able to stream your Pandora or MP3's, view a real-time map, ride data, and even allow your position on a map to be viewed by someone who has the secure link...for safety reasons.
That is all fine and good, but it can take a fully charged iPhone battery and reduce it to zero in about an hour and a half. That's incredibly unfortunate considering you could be harnessing an infinite supply of energy so long as your pedals are turning.
Enter SpinPOWER I4. EnviroGadget says,
This iPhone 4 Bicycle Charger makes use of a dynamo, to turn your pedal power into electricity to charge your phone with. This allows you to listen to music as you ride, run apps, have phone calls and whatever else you wish to do with your phone all without worry over draining the battery. Alternatively you can use the time you cycle to charge the phone, helping to free you from dependence on mains electricity. The charger can start providing you with electricity from even slow cycle speeds, from as little as 4 mph it will start to power your phone.
You can pick up a SpinPOWER I4 on Amazon for about $80. Would you charge your iPhone via bike? How about solar?
