If you read last week's article on the former Whole Foods employee's resignation letter, you may have had mixed feelings and wondered how much of it was true and how much was resentful spat. Gawker, who initially published the letter, posted a follow up article that outlined some gentler yet revealing comments from the same employee. If there's any truth to the statements, it seems that Whole Foods could use some improvement, and what better way for that to happen than making your concerns heard.

Here are 5 things you can voice at your local WF to help them become even healthier and eco-friendlier.

- Pick a non-profit that could use some food donations and ask your local Whole Foods to send their day old baked goods, bruised produce, and dented box products to them instead of throwing them out at the end of the day.

- Ask a manager how the store recycles. If it's true that 80% of packaging goes into the trash instead of the recycling bin, the store needs to hear more from their shoppers that recycling is important to them.

- Take home recyclables instead of putting them into WF recycling bins, because those may go to the trash instead

- If you're brave, tell a manager that you read that many WF stores have rat problems and you're concerned about how the handling might have health effects (and might be cruel). They probably won't tell you anything, but voicing your concerns may get them to change their ways.

- Ask how the prepared foods section is kept clean and fresh. Employees apparent ly never eat off the hot bar unless they microwave the food first and some say that some of the ingredients are expired.
