Global Exchange is an international human rights organization dedicated to promoting political, social and environmental justice globally. Since their founding in 1988, they have been working with communities across the world to build a greater awareness of global trade issues and translate that awareness into Fair Trade activism.
The goal of Global Exchange Fair Trade Stores is to show that a humane alternative to exploitative corporate-based retail not only exists, but also can compete and succeed in the mainstream market. In fact, all of their stores are continuing to grow in revenue year after year. They make their Fair Trade mission very clear to their customers, but they do not rely solely on this to sell their crafts. For Fair Trade to work, products they carry must sell on their own merits at a price comparable to other retailers.
Come join us for the twitter party and learn what Fair Trade is, why it's important, and what kinds of beautiful, interesting and affordable gifts you can find from Fair Trade artisans. Global Exchange will also have special discount codes to use in their online store, so be sure to join us so you don't miss out!
I have invited other Fair Trade retailers and organizations to join us. If we add more participants to this party, I'll update below.
UPDATE (Wed, Dec. 14th, 6:30pm Eastern):
Just got word that Fair Trade USA is donating 3 Fair Trade Coffee & Tea Packs for tonight's party so be sure to RSVP in the comments below with your Twitter ID & be sure to tweet at least 1x to qualify!
