I read that Purdue University produces 20 tons of food waste a month which is really hard to fathom (http://www.greenwala.com/community/groups/all/107-GREEN-NEWS-TIDBITS-CURRENT-EVENTS/topics/822) but I find it mind blowing that little kids are generating 67 pounds of waste each school year. I don't doubt it, but it is shocking nonetheless. I remember that life was so much more simple way back when and my siblings and I would never have dreamt of throwing anything that my mom & dad packed for lunch in the garbage. Plus, back then, we used reusable containers for everything. Funny how everything old is new again. I must sound like a broken record on Greenwala always making that comment, but it's so true.
