Instead of buying plastic toys to put in plastic baskets this Easter season, think of using recycled items that kids will enjoy just as much and maybe more! There are many alternatives to the plastic goodies sold in the seasonal isles.
Get creative and have the kids help you make paper baskets. All you have to do is gather paper, cardboard, and poster board scraps. Then chose a template from one of the many free crafts websites, follow the directions and go at it! Paper machete is a great way to create various shapes and sizes making each basket personalized too.
Another great resource is an empty gallon milk jug. This gives you a great start to an Easter basket. Other crafting tools to have on hand to create the perfect basket could include: paper fasteners, paints, glue, scissors, stickers, sequins, glitter, felt and any other available decorative art supplies.
When you are finished creating your masterpiece avoid filling it with the fake plastic grass they sell at the stores. Instead just go for the real thing! This gives it a whole-hearted green touch!
So have fun with your families and think green for Easter.
