Are you looking for a way to design your life in a more eco-friendly manner? Do you want to improve this aspect of your life in both your home and at work? One of many global environmental organizations, Worldwatch Institute, is trying to reduce our carbon footprint as well as creating a more sustainable environment for generations to come. By reducing such actions that make climate change more rampant and by truly living with our planet and not against it, it is easy to create a more healthy environment to live in. There are ten easy steps to take in your daily life that will truly help save you money, energy, and provide a clean and thriving atmosphere to exist in. These 10 steps, though not limited to them, are cornerstones of truly living a greener life.

10 Easy Steps to Design a Greener Life:

1. Save energy through unplugging appliances when not in use, using compact flourescent lightbulbs (CFL's), adjusting the thermostat, washing clothes in cold water, and many more.

2. Save water by cutting showers shorter, planting drought-tolerant native plants that do not need much watering, and install such things as low-flow shower heads and faucet aerators.

3. Use less gas to save money and the air from exhaust and other harsh smog. Using less gas also involves choosing other, more active ways to get around such as riding a bike to work instead of driving.

4. Eat smarter by cutting out the amount of meat consumed in your diet per week, as well as including organic foods and eating foods lower down on the food chain.

5. Ditch the water bottle. Use aluminum reusable water bottles as opposed to plastic and install a water filter on your faucet to reduce plastic use for water bottle production as well as providing you with free, great tasting water.

6. Think about the products you buy before you buy them, how they impact the environment, and how you can save by purchasing recycled or previously used products.

7. Try to borrow whenever you can rather than buying excessively. This could include sharing power tools, or checking out books from a library rather than buying them from a bookstore.

8. Buy smarter, including buying in bulk and spending more on high-quality products. This allows for less waste and reduction of toxic chemicals.

9. When the time comes to replace your electronics, make sure they are disposed of properly to reduce Mercury and other toxins being put back into the earth.

10. Use non-toxic cleaning supplies or create your own to again reduce harsh chemicals being thrown back into the environment where they don't belong.

These are just a few tips to green your life, while saving you and your family money. It's easy to change little things in life to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle, and it all starts with a little change.
