China Begins to Bleed Green

china_exports.jpg   China's export manufacturing industry is beginning to show their green layers. Increasing pressure from the national government and strict regulations in overseas markets.  Due to this new type of competition, many suppliers are redefining their strategies and adopting more eco- friendly practices.  This could be a major step in the way of eco-friendly manufacturing, solely due to the number of manufacturers in China that account for a majority of the wasteful products and pollution of the country.

The most common practice that is being adopted is recycling.  High polluting industries, such as leather tanning, are required to invest in water treatment systems.  They also use it as a marketing tool for prospective customers.  Several local governments have also set up complimentary wastewater recycling systems to ensure that there is safe drinking water.  Third party waste disposal companies have become popular with many businesses in China.  Some factories even outsource hazardous processes to businesses that have invested in the eco-friendly activities.

Although China is making a huge effort in reducing or reusing their waste products, renewable energy has been the toughest transition for businesses in China. This will be the next step for one of the fastest growing countries in the world.
