Panda.JPEGMei Lan, a U.S.-born giant panda, is the new global ambassador of Earth Hour, a movement that aims to get people around the world to turn off nonessential lights for an hour to help draw attention to climate change.

This year marks the fourth Earth Hour, which will be held on Saturday, March 27, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. local time.

Last year, organizers say close to a billion people around the world shut off their lights as major landmarks went dark - including the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Empire State Building in New York, and the Great Pyramids in Giza, Egypt. This year, Tokyo Tower and Berlin's Brandenburg Gate will also join in the darkness.

THIS YEAR, LET US ALL ON THE GREENWALA, JOIN HANDS AND SPREAD THE WORD TO OUR FRIENDS, RELATIVES, AQUIANTANCES and OTHERS, TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS VERY WORTHWHILE CAUSE to "SAVE ENERGY" and  to "REINFORCE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS" among the general populace.
