I am a vaper. It's greener than cigarettes. At least the last time I checked. Should it be a crime?

My name is Adam Grossman. President of LUX Vapor Inc in OC, CA. First of all, at the request of a wonderful Greenwala member and in an effort to educate the Greenwala comunity, I have started blogging about LUX as well as the products and the movement that we support.

As a twenty five year cigarette smoker I have learned that not only are cigarettes bad and unhealthy, but also, that I am potentially robbed of my freedom of choice to an alternative experience , in order to rid the nasty habit. After tying to quit countless times with other products I gave up. Fortunately, now I have found that personal vaporizers (Aka Electronic Cigarettes) work for me and thousands of others. Unfortunately our Governement has no concern for the well-being of American citizens, when it comes to enterprise messing with Big Tobacco or Big Pharmacy. Regardless the countless positive effects to the health of the environment, and worse yet, us as human beings. It's all about the money. Don't be fooled.

I know that as you realize the challenges my-self, my partners, our company, our friends, our families and thousands of others are personally facing, you will understand why such a passion for such a product exists.

If you have any suggestions, comments or friends in high places that would be interested in hearing about, or helping such a movement. Come on down!

Master LUX-orator, please tell everyone in the Greenwala community why vapor cigarettes are so much greener than traditional cigarettes. I have no idea if any community members smoke or not (oh wait -- Ahmet does...) but all of us know people who are struggling with their addictions. From an environmental standpoint, I really want to understand why the cigarettes you are so enthusiastic about are so much better than the conventional type. Your info may sway many members to tell their friends and family to make the switch.

Alright students… Class is in session…

Well, when you get down to it, it’s just like everything else, it's the numbers that produce the negative impact on our environment. On the other hand, it will be the numbers that produce the positive impact on our environment.

I will keep it simple for the purpose of not confusing myself with too many numbers on a Sunday.

I read somewhere on Greenwala that Home Depot is giving away one million light bulbs. I also read about Greenwala’s one million tree challenge. Considering one million is the popular number, a fairly easy to multiply and just enough to actually make a substantial difference.

If, per say the Greenwalla community, along with LUX were to introduce this eco-friendly personal vaporizer to that magic number of one million smokers, the numbers get staggering and the obvious positive impact speaks for itself.

• 5,000,000,000 cigarette butts per year will be prevented from ever reaching our streets, oceans and landfills

• 5,000,000,000 cigarettes worth of smoke per year will be prevented from ever being produced.

• $1,000,000,000 of revenue per year taken from the tobacco industry

• $1,000,000,000 of revenue per year to be put back into the economy

• Potentially save 1,000,000 people from certain death.

According to Gallup's annual Consumption Habits poll, approximately 25% of the US population smokes cigarettes. Play with those numbers for a bit and see how it can actually make your head spin.

Now on to the good stuff… Personal vaporizers consist of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, an atomizer that vaporizes the nicotine solution filled plastic mouth-piece. I have definitely figured out how to recycle PV’s. Any consumer given the right info and uses a little conscious effort can definitely do the same.

• The batteries can be charged up to 300 times. After death can actually be laid to rest at I believe a Radio Shack or the national chain, Batteries Plus is happy to take back disposable batteries for recycling at any of its 255 retail stores coast-to-coast.

• The atomizers are a small aluminum tube that last on average 1-3 months. We all know we can recycle that.

• I found that I could easily wash and refill the plastic cartridges that would normally be thrown away. I reuse the wool filling as long as it can take being washed and refilled. (1-2 months) the waste is so minimal though. Who knows what I will do with all the plastic tips I have. Maybe an art piece?

The bottom line is the personal vaporizer is an amazing environmentally friendly product that will potentially do a world of good.

Thanks for breaking it all down, Master LUXorator. I've seen recycled cigarette butt artwork before (http://greenupgrader.com/5572/green-cigarette-butts/), so it's nice to know that some people are making a conscious effort to rid our environment of so many ugly polluting eyesores, but unless the artist gains the notoriety of Picasso or Warhol, I'd imagine that a lot of these pieces find their way to the dumpster. On the otherhand, if you're going to smoke but you are concerned about the waste involved with your habit, I can see why electric cigarettes could be just the ticket. Plus, isn't the plastic cigarette exterior reusable throughout its lifespan? Couldn't it last a few years without looking all schmutzy?

Well... not a problem at all. I checked out those butts.... Oh I mean I checked out the art. Cute bunny. The other one kinda reminded me of a very stinky asstray... Oh.. I mean ashtray. Sorry I felt I was on a roll.

On a serious note they are pretty easy to recycle. Noted above. The only plastic piece is the filter, which I suppose I coud wash and re-use forever or make something artistic that doesn't stink and never did.

        The actual PV is aluminum.
