Do I hear a what the heck is a Rock 'n Renew?
HAHAHAHA I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER ASK
Rock ‘n Renew is a movement. Rock ‘n Renew stands for action!
For the first time in history such a non-profit organization exists. The most rockin non-profit for the planet! A new generation of environmental, change makers, are taking the world by storm, in a form of educational sustainability workshops, soon to become a mandatory part of our US school districts nationwide. Rock ‘n Renew Foundation founder, New York City rocker, Jonny Dubowsky has defined the ultimate vehicle for any corporate enterprise to utilize, enable and involve the brightest minds of tomorrow. Teamed up with 400 universities and over 200,000 students nationwide, Rock 'n Renew has proved time and again as a unit they have founded several ground breaking green solutions for major corporations and organizations enabling them to take action now. From solar to agriculture, musical to chemical, to aerospace even skateboarding, there is a solution. Rock ‘n Renew Foundation has it!
OK... Now that that is out of the way. Soon I will introduce my boss and friend Jonny Dubowsky to the Greenwala Community as soon as I can nail him down long enough to do so. Jonny is what I can say is an absolutely amazing asset to the environment and society.
R 'n R has just recieved stimulous money to further our educational programs. We currently working with the state of Hawaii on everything from pocket forests, water reclaimation and re-forestation to alternate fabrics, papers and bio-fuel. Crazy shit!
June 1st, we start working with HURLEY on thier H2o campaign. Our part is a water reclaimation program that will start with OC and possibly move out on a global level. Cross your fingers.
DO I HEAR ANY QUESTIONS?
Oh ya don't say... Alrighty then... I will continue...
How Did It Begin?
Founded by musician Jonny Dubowsky, Rock 'n Renew is committed to the practical pursuit of environmental health and sustainability. As Jonny's band, Jonny Lives!, met with increasing success, they began frequent tours of over 10,000 miles each. Concerned about fuel consumption, Jonny researched bio-diesel as an alternative to gasoline and ultimately transformed the group's tours into carbon-neutral events. From this initial commitment, Rock 'n Renew grew into a multi-faceted organization with the resources and connections to make real environmental change happen. Our target areas of action -Energy, Ecology, and Society -represent a three-pronged approach that urges conservation, promotes stewardship, and recognizes collective action as the best way to protect our future. With an unapologetic rock-culture sensibility and a wide playlist of innovative events, Rock 'n Renew puts environmental responsibility center-stage, with a unique artistic edge.
Our Partners + Our Mission
Rock 'n Renew has teamed up with the Natural Resources Defense Council, StopGlobalWarming.org, The Campus Climate Challenge, Focus The Nation, DoSomething.org, and other dedicated activist groups worldwide to form a comprehensive network with one main goal -to bring the goals of sustainability to as many communities as possible. Our plan of action focuses on the following three areas:
Energy:
It is hard to believe that 19th-century technology is still being used to power the 21st-century world. It is now clear that our dependence on fossil fuel has directly affected the climate crisis we face today. Rock 'n Renew recognizes this connection and seeks immediate and practical solutions for this environmental and political emergency. We identify end-use efficiency as the most exciting source of alternative energy and outline simple, direct measures to reduce wasteful fuel consumption. We also take the dizzying array of information currently available on alternative energy technologies and condense it into a comprehensible plan of action for your school, business, or community. Rock 'n Renew promotes energy solutions that work and demonstrates how you can be part of the transition to renewable energy that is now happening on a global level.
Ecology:
Our natural environment is disappearing before our very eyes. The actions of consumers and industry are precipitating the extinctions of entire species and a staggering daily loss of land and vegetation. Rock 'n Renew works with concepts and curriculum elements from NRDC, The Land Trust Alliance, and The Land Conservation Fund to give students and adults the tools they need to protect our precious natural resources. We are working to build the Rock 'n Renew Ecology Center in Bayonne, New Jersey, to use the outdoor environment as a classroom to educate students about their role in safeguarding our planet. Through lectures and workshops on ecology and agriculture, we make audiences aware of the hazards posed by unethically-produced and genetically modified food, and show communities how to eat locally and seasonally. Fostering a close relationship between the land, its bounty, and its inhabitants is the first step to preserving the beauty and potential of our natural world.
Society:
Rock 'n Renew believes in the collective power of the voice. When individuals unite, they can incite massive change. If millions of people make deliberate choices as consumers, voters, artists, parents, and youth - businesses and policy-makers will listen. Our aim is to stimulate communities with ideas and information, unloosing creativity and inspiring action. A healthy society and culture cannot exist without a healthy place to live -the earth. In urgent response to the needs of our planet, we are calling for people to do more than just recycle. We are asking for widespread change to begin locally and to progress globally, and we work towards a future in which art, culture, and environmental commitment intertwine to create a diverse, vibrant, and caring society.

It's funny how most social networks and forums can be. If you are not in the inner circle of people involved, no matter how hard you try to contribute info relating directly to the right issues, nobody cares about the newbies. It just urks me! Correct me if I am wrong.
I can understand to a certain point, however with Rock 'n Renew, how can you deny your interest or curiosity? They are going "WAY" beyond the call of duty and take the lead in most areas of sustainability. Not just picking one lane as most non-profit organizations do.
Just a few questions.
This is too small of a pond?
Elizah is the only who is interested?
Everyone is way too busy?
Maybe no one really cares because it doesn't fit into thier "peersonal" agenda? Yes Peersonal.
Maybe 90% of Greenwalas are here just to say they are here and have no intention of contributing? If this is not the case, prove it.
Nobody likes Rockers?
Posters avoid commenting on unknowns posts so they dont lose poll position?
Should I continue?
Like I said, correct me if I am wrong.

I wouldn't get frustrated about the lack of comments on the site. I think that more people read the blogs, digest the information and take that valued knowledge to their peer groups to discuss. So although a discussion may not be happening on every blog post I think your ideas add value and vital knowledge to their lives. Keep up the great posts!

Personally, I like the idea of communication in a social network. That is what the damn things are for. If ideas and issues are not discussed in some form of an open forum, it couldn't be good.

Meena, Rock 'n Renew currently has educational programs in place all over the country. Jonny is booked and travels over 150 days a year to work with students from elementary schools to the nations most prominent universities. He educates with a musician related, non-boring manner and without even realizing themselves the kids really "get" it. They grasp the concept and take action for the "Planet That Rocks!" I will post a Rock n Renew 5th grade project in the video section later.

For the record. Until I took a position at Rock 'n Renew, I had no idea that the word sustainability even existed. lol As a matter of fact I still eat cheese burgers and pizza. I probably still leave the lights on more than I should, as well as take long hot showers. However, the bottom line is that I am now educated, I am aware of my faults in this area, and I try to improve on them every day.

Thanks for the attention ladies. I needed that =)
