As a child, admittedly, I was quite wasteful. I used too much toilet paper, I threw away a lot of spare food, I crushed bugs with ease. So, how am I here now, writing for a website who's slogan is "Life Life Greener"? The answer to that question, put very simply, is vegetarianism.
I never knew the horror of the meat industry until I saw one of those in-your-face Peta2 ads, and being the fourteen year old that I was, my curiosity quickly grew. After I learned about the terrors of the slaughterhouses and the dangers of the dairy industry, I wanted to make the world my world a better place by helping animals, and therefore, helping nature. I stopped eating meat over six years ago, and I've become more conscious of the world around me, the animals around me, and the natural elements around me. I stopped wasting water and electricity, buying cruelty free clothes and products, and I was a lot kinder to everyone - including animals.
Of course, most people thought that I was a loon. However, I believe that that July day in my 14th year was the start of a cleaner life for me; I even got past my worst bout of depression. Now, I am not pressuring anyone to become vegetarian, or vegan, but I believe that it's a great way to start a truly natural life.
