It's summer. It's hot. The two things
go together like ice and cream. With the blistering heat outside
threatening to cook everyone, sometimes you just need to cool off.
Sadly for most of curling up in the back of your icebox isn't an option.
Fortunately there are other options for us, and I'll get to those as
soon as I grab a bite to eat, I'm making myself hungry...
Stay out of the Kitchen. See, that was my first mistake, instead of turning on the oven, why
not go and grab a cool snack. Summer is a great time for fresh fruit
and veggies, so why not take advantage of that. Fruit salads are
wonderfully refreshing, and wonderful tasting when made with the
freshest fruits. So why not take some time and walk on down to your
local market and grab some dinner.
Well,
that was pretty yummy. My hunger is filled, but now I'm thirsting to
tell you some more. It would be great to fill you up with knowledge,
especially when the ideas are flowing like this. Actually, now that I
think about it I'm getting kinda thirsty. I could use a drink...
Consume the Cool Stuff. While I'm chilling out eating, it would be a great time to grab some cool drinks. If you ever have any extra freezer space, make the best of it. It doesn't make sense to turn off the freezer (although investing in an ice-box would save energy!), so make the most of it by stashing some water bottles there. When you get hot, now you have an easy way to cool off. What's better is if you have a a small, wide mouthed pitcher, you can freeze a block of ice and use that to cool down a nice pitcher of tea you just made!
Ok, my hunger is filled and my thirst slaked, things are getting better, but after a long hard day of cooling down, I'm still a bit hot and sweaty. I've never been a good fan of hot and sweaty, so you'll excuse me while I take care of that...
Take a Cool Shower. Few things can beat a cold shower when it comes to chilling out. Long has it been prescribed for your burning desires, but did you know that it can be used to cool your burning outsides as well. Even after, nice regular hot showers, I give myself a blast of cool water to keep my core temperature down. Then I dry myself off enough to keep from dripping and let the summer air do the rest. Then when I get all cool and dry, I can work on getting hot and wet again with my girl. Then the process repeats itself...
