Little Mary, Watch Your Garden Grow

vegetable_garden-1st_season--_sm_.jpgOne of the greatest things that I've learned this past summer is the value and productiveness of having a garden. A garden can be anywhere; my step father grows tomatoes in a bucket on the back porch, and they grow beautifully. But I never knew before this year that it was as wonderful and necessary as it is.

A really awesome website that I have been visiting for tips is called Garden Guides (gardenguides.com) and, even though, I still have to save my veggies from heat sometimes, it's been really helpful. Currently, I'm growing (successfully) squash and tomatoes - my peppers are just starting to bud. I know that it can be dreadfully boring for a young person such as I to simply clean and tend to a garden all the live long day, but it is really relaxing to get back to nature. I also love that I am keeping these plants alive (even though I killed my pumpkins and melons!)... I am still adjusting to Denver's odd weather and altitude, I had loved experimenting with this garden.

Of course, the main thing for me is being up close and personal with nature. You're playing Mama Nature to baby plants, and they depend on you for that water everyday, for protection from weeds, and fertilizer if and when needed.. Even though I can't wait for the fall to come, I love having a garden, and encourage any personal wanting a more natural life to tend to one as well.
