Canadian Cows Enjoy A Little Wine Wth Dinner

main_wine_6.jpgLots of people enjoy a little wine with dinner, but thanks to some Canadian cattle ranchers, cows are now joining in on the cocktail hour.

Janice Ravndahl of Kelowna, British Columbia's Sezmu Meats first came up with the idea, saying the steak of cows who consume wine on a constant basis has an "enhanced flavor," with fat that "tastes like candy." (PS: that sounds gross)

While certain meat connoisseurs are no doubt jumping up in down in anticipation of "candy fat," the Canadian Food Inspection Agency recently called up Ravndahl with a few questions regarding her bovine drinkers; the first and most important question being, is it even a good idea to give cows wine?

Ravndahl says the inspectors were eventually convinced that no harm to cow or human would come from a few lush steers, even though a change in their personality is very obvious after drinking a "liter-blend" of wine.

"They moo a lot more with each other. They get really chatty."

So basically, a tipsy cow is a happy cow, and a happy cow produces better meat than a stressed-out one.

As long as wine doesn't do anything to permanently harm a cow, why not let him get his drink on? It's not like those guys have the longest lifespan in the world – why not let them chill out for a while?
