The Beginning........Getting Healthy and Green!

I am probably considered a ‘late-bloomer' to the green movement, however in small ways I did try to do my part.  The past few months, I have become much more involved and even outspoken on some levels.   After caring for my ailing father-in-law who suffered with COPD for years,  and later succumbed to cancer which ultimately took his life in June 2008, it infuriates me knowing that the chemicals that surrounded him in food, his home and career, caused his suffering and early death.  This infuriation fulls my mission to help and change the way we live!

We began our website http://www.zoelifestyle.com/mspell  when we became involved and passionate about a company called Zoegetics, who's main focus is Health & Green Wellness.  A friend of ours we have known for many years began this company, along with two very passionate ‘Green' partners.   When 2008 ended and honestly even into the first couple of months of 2009, we had been stripped of practically everything we owned, and through the stress of it all became extremely unhealthy.  Trying to make a change, we became more involved learning about the Zoe Life Nutritional, how it is unprocessed, raw and packed with antioxidants, which is actually 5000 ORAC.    This impressed us, because it wasn't a processed liquid in a bottle, or a processed tablet or capsule, both of which lose their nutrient value.  It was ground to a powder form we mix in water, juice, yogurt, smoothie, or any other way.  We began taking the product and immediately loved the taste, but also noticed how we were feeling better, with more energy and both of us noticed our arthritis pain subsiding.   Over the weeks of taking this daily we began noticing our weight going down.  This was totally unexpected, however we did see a change in our eating habits, as we weren't craving or munching on ‘junk' as much.  We learned that when the body is nutritionally balanced, it doesn't crave 'stuff' anymore.   So, we are now hooked - literally.  Knowing we are getting a balanced daily intake of fruits & vegetables, plus Acai, Noni, Mangosteen, Green Tea - all raw and unprocessed, we just can't get that anywhere else.   If curious you can read more about this product and others they are planning on introducing in the near future.  Go to http://www.zoelifestyle.com/mspell.

Beginning with this nutritional also made us become more aware of chemically processed foods in our home we were eating.  I was a ‘label' reader already, but focusing more on calories, sodium and fats.  I wasn't thinking about the chemicals that flavored the foods, kept them fresh, and the containers holding them.  I am now very aware, as is my husband, on what our family has been ingesting for years - poisons!  Now we both always read the labels on everything!   Do you read labels?    Many of these chemicals in processed foods have been linked to cancer, liver, and kidney damage and reproductive problems.   Did you know canned foods have a lining that contains Bisphenol-A,  as do Polycaronate plastic PC, which can be identified on the packaging for PC7 or the recycle triangle for number 7?  Bisphenol-A is suspected to interact with our hormone systems. Imbalanced hormones can be the cause of aggressive hormonal cancer, which is what my sister passed away with at the young age of 47.  Here is a great article "The Top Ten Things Food Companies Don't Want You To Know."   http://www.naturalnews.com/019957.html

I just started really paying attention to labels a month or so ago when I joined Greenwala and started reading what everyone was saying about the food industry. I got the bejeezus scared out of me after reading what one member wrote about the cattle industry and the agriculture industry:

Since you're new here, I also recommend that you take a look at this video about the agri-giant Monsanto...they've been poisoning us for decades!

Bob, it is alarming was has been taking place for years, and the lives that have been damage due to the greed of the industry. Might I add, an industry and government we were believed we could 'trust' with our health and wellbeing. What is even more frightening is that sometimes the labels we are now consciously reading, are at times "misleading."

      Thank you for the links!
