The First Annual BuFest started off a little rocky but ended with a giant cheers. Vendors showed up to the beautiful Malibu Canyon from all over the United States. Organic clothing companies, green superstores, solar panel companies, alternative energy booths, organic beer and food trucks, shirts made from recycled plastic bottles, eco-friendly cleansers and so much more!

The vibe was amazing; everyone there all shared a common goal, to spread the awareness of being green. The food vendors served food in biocompostable containers made from corn, the utensils were made from corn, all the food was organic and taste delicious!

BuFest had a WIDE range of vendors present. There was a lot of clothing vendors, all featured something organic about them. Some used soy and organic cotton like Thin Logic, others made clothing from 50% recycled plastic bottles like kikaPaprika. There was all natural cosmetic care lines such as Nava Natural Sparkle, alternative energy booths featuring solar power, wind power and electric bicycles! Even a green superstore vendor, The Ultimate Green Store, was present that told me most of the companies they sell on their site where present at the festival. It was a green enthusiast play ground.

NadaChair.JPGOne company that I loved and am pretty sure I will purchase their product soon was the Nada Chair, a strap that goes around your lower back and over knees helps align your back giving you good posture. I found it to be a great thing to use to help you meditate and even the salesman told me that is what it was mainly made for!

I found it kind of ironic that they gave away plastic water bottles but then again tons of recycling bins where placed around so people wouldn't waste the bottles.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with the politics that went into making that festival happen but hopefully if there is a 2nd year, they will have gotten their things in order and put on another fun, green festival that everyone will enjoy!

I recently attended a green-themed festival (I guess there's a lot of them these days) that claimed to be zero waste event. That seems like a bold claim (or even a touch of greenwashing) because anywhere there's massive amounts of people, there's somehow lots of waste. Even though they had volunteers there composting on recycling on site, I was really surprised at the end of the day to see so much junk flowing out of the garbage cans. Did you notice the same kind of thing at the BuFest?

Wow, your festival was a bit more green then this one I would say. They didnt have composting but they did have lots of recycling bins placed all around but it seemed like even though this was supposed to be all about supporting going green and doing good for the environment, people where still wasteful and trashed the park. When we left, I saw cups, bottles and trash all over the ground. The recycling bins where jammed, trash over flowing in the trash cans. I tried my best to snag bottles and cups when I saw them and put them in a recycling bin that had some room but it wasnt enough since someone would walk right by and toss another cup aside.

I'm going to another festival at the end of this month that is actually on its 5th year, so I'm guessing with a record like that they might have something going for them!

This was a complete bust for the vendors and sponsors(way too many of the same things sold - 6 solar companies, 5 coffee carts, 3 BBQ vendors, etc) Total loss for most because of PROMOTER greed. No crowd because No Name headliners. Definitely not a "Green Festival". Plastic bottles of water sold and non compostable cups used for beer. GREED IN THE NAME OF GREEN!!! Beware

Ya, I didnt exactly feel like paying $12 for a small cup of beer so I didnt get to see if they where compostable or not. I bought the Italian ice cream and it came in that cup that's in the first picture.
