Bag o' Fabric Scraps -- The DIY/Greenie Treat That Just Can't Be Beat (Unless You Cut Up Your Own Clothes)!

I used to just donate old shirts, pillowcases and the left over fabric remnants from my various different craft projects to Goodwill or The Salvation Army, but I've noticed that within the last few years, I started stockpiling them instead.

I kept telling myself that I'd "get to them" on a rainy day in the near future...maybe I'd create a few homemade cards or a cat toy...perhaps I'd even whip up some hair accessories.

Well, we've been having plenty of rainy days this year, and yet my pile of assorted materials keeps growing -- in fact, there may actually be a layer of dust on them by now :(

Blame it on the eco-chick within...I KNOW that there's a future life for this stuff -- I just need the time and inspiration to work my magic!

Can you imagine my surprise upon discovering that American Apparel is selling a 1.6 pound Bag-O-Scraps (just like mine) for $8.00?

I guess they have the same idea that I've clung onto this whole time -- they're appealing to the crafty creative diva (or "div-ude" as the case may be) by suggesting that people tap into their artsy sides and let their imaginations flow.

So, instead of logging onto American Apparel for your fabric fix, would anyone here like to buy twice the amount of fabric scraps at HALF the price, because I know someone who has a lot of squares to spare if you get my drift.

In all seriousness, it seems like being green is definitely mainstream -- buying fabric scraps from a clothing retailer would never have been an option even 4 years ago. Kinda made me smile.
