Autumn is the perfect time of year to pull on your sweater, keep a cup of hot cocoa nearby at all times and contemplate what kind of creative madness you can summon from all of the piles of recyclable materials mounting in your garage.

There is no excuse why you should ever be bored when there are so many imaginative things that you can do with empty tin cans, glass jars, old magazines and cardboard.

Let's use the work of New York based designer JK Keller as an example -- he created some marvelous two dimensional robot like images out of assorted cardboard food packages and consumer product boxes.

From Pop Tarts and cereal to cigarettes, booze and pasta, Keller left no stone unturned in his quest to embody the essence of each product, using only elements of the original packaging to create his Transformer-esque characters.

In every case, he cut out only pre-existing shapes already present in the packaging material and used them in conjunction with solid portions of each box to create his list of unusual suspects.

You may think that artsy projects like this one should be reserved exclusively for children or those who tint sections of their locks acid orange or stop light red, but this is more along the lines of an eco roll in the hay.

Instead of succumbing to the call of the boob tube, why not saddle up to the dining room table with your main squeeze and create a eco craft date that revolves around nothing more than recycled packaging and imagination?

If you happen to be married with children, this greenie artsy exercise screams FAMILY BONDING all over it!

If you should choose to rise to the challenge by roll around in your cardboard recycling bin one weekend in the near future, would you please post your homemade boxbot creations in a blog post right here on this site?

If word gets out, I think we might have a boxbot revolution on our hands but that's fine with me:) Don't you think this could be so much more fun than playing cards?
