EXHIBITION from may 10th to june 13th

Green revolution is the name given to the agricultural revolution of The 50’s. This led to the use of industrial and biological technology in agriculture. The exhibition Green revolution will take place in Nieuwe Vide art space from May 10th to June 13th. The artists brought together for this show reveal an imagery that has been inspired by the current mutations in our environment. They deal with diverse matters such as Tchernobyl, global warming and the rise in oil rates. At times close to science-fiction, these artists imagine new stories which pay witness to the curiosity and fears derived from this changing reality. In the 1990’s some artists set up collaborations between visual art and biotechnology, even participating as guinea-pigs in scientific experiments. They nourish their work with the innovations brought about in the field of biotechnology, for example, like the Arts and Genomic Center, in Leiden shows. Through imagination, spirituality and science these artworks open up new perspectives on the apprehension of our current world.
During the opening of this exhibition there will be a performance by Art Orienté Objet, followed by a discussion with the artists themselves and Miriam van Rijsingen from the Art and Genomics Center from Leiden. They will discuss the artistic practices that participate and deal with the thematic of biotechnology and the environment, and the new knowledge and possibilities that this produces.
