A Photographic Ode To The Pure Goodness Of Fruits, Veggies and Nuts

If you are the type of person who thinks that there is no greater bliss than meandering through your local farmer's market, admiring exotic looking heirloom goodies and ooooing and aaaahing over the colors, textures and scents, then the photographic work of Russian artist Eika Dopludo is prone to make you smile.

Judging from her series of produce-related self portraits, she appears to be deeply connected to Mother Nature's bounty.

This summer, I was lucky enough to take a field trip to one of the most bounteous farmer's markets in my state and while I think that I was probably a little more excited than a human being should be about fruits and vegetables, Dupludo takes the produce admiration society to a whole new level.

Not that there's anything wrong with it. Her adoration of pomegranate arils makes me realize that I have a lot more to learn about the tart-and-sweet taste sensation...

Now we're talking...chiles...mmmmmm, my favorite.

Hailing from Saint Petersburg, Eika Dopludo dabbles in a lot more than photographic odes to fruit and veggies -- she mentions in her online portfolio that she's also fond of drawing, fine arts and magic.

The latter hobby might explain how she was able to pull off so many photos of veggies and bits seemingly levitating in front of (or on) her face.

If you are interested in checking out more of her artistic collection, then take a look at her flickr portfolio here -- http://www.flickr.com/photos/eika_dopludo/

Depending on the day, I tend to feel a little nutso too, but Dopludo makes the emotion seem a lot more poetic.

Sooooo, share your thoughts -- Kinda cool? Did it make you feel uncomfortable? Cheerful? Are you thinking that you've really missed a huge part of the enjoyment factor of your fruits and vegetables? Come on people, pictures don't lie. It seems like Dupludo is having a lot more fun than most of us have ever had before....this weekend at the farmer's market, I might just have to rethink my approach!
