I see them in every thrift shop I go to. Piles of neckties that just sit there getting bigger by the week. So I decided to take those ties and turn them into something useable! Presenting the tie bag!
So, can you please explain your process without giving away the whole kit and kaboodle? I can't tell from the picture if you leave every tie in tact or do you open them up and let out the fabric in equal swaths? What do you line the bag with. Do you make different shaped bags? I think that college students would go bananas for laptop bag version! This really is a clever idea, Sarah.
Thanks! The only thing I do to the ties is cut off the fat points at the bottom and then the long skinny part to make the bag the height that I want. The bags have an almost quilted feel to them since I don't open the ties up at all. I've just started making them and am in the process of coming up with new shapes and designs. A laptop bag is a fabulous idea! I line them with a variety of different materials (mostly cotton) and the lining is the only part that isn't recycled material.
