Before you dismiss disco mirror balls as being a tacky relic of pop culture eras past, don't forget that they are the sole reason why wedding reception attendees actually rouse themselves out of the safety zone of their chairs so that they can participate in goofy public humiliation exercises like the electric slide and the chicken dance.

Just a ball covered in mirrors, but wow, it sure does have a lot of power.

Once you cover a suit in mirrored tiles (like Chris Issak's above), it is transformed from snappy lookin' attire to bow down before me, I am your uber-rock star thing of gorgeousness.

I had the priviledge of seeing Chris in concert at Red Rocks about 5 years ago in this exact suit and trust me...this photo doesn't do it justice...I had to physically close my jaw multiple times so that my saliva wouldn't drown the ladies next to me.

European fashion designer Carin Wester understands the inexplicable power of mirrors and was clever enough to create these fantastically enhanced boots with the help of shattered mirrors and mega glue.

The foot attire she's enhanced would have been cool straight-up, but I'm sure that you can see how they achieve new heights of greatness with a little recycled bling action.

Naturally, you really wouldn't want to dance in puddles with these babies or trudge through 4 feet of snow, but who wears cool boots like these in really bad weather, anyway?

I can see the safety benefits of these when you're walking the city streets at night, though -- major reflective action!

OutsaPop points out that while it is awesome to recycle mirrors, they will likely contribute to quite a lot of additional weight on your feet -- good if you want to nonchallantly work your gams, but bad if you're already skinny as a rail and can't afford to shed another ounce.

Their solution? Break up old CDs into shards and give your glue gun a good workout.

I am sooooooooooooooo down with that -- how about you?

I'm thinking about CD mosaic"ing" my pocketbook, too -- surely by drilling small little holes in each shard end, I could just sew them on!
