Jeans are an intrinsic part of our culture and whether you want to dress up, down, or somewhere in the middle, there is always a pair that fulfills our fashion needs.

But all of that cotton...boy oh boy, denim is just as notorious for generating a carbon footprint the size of a couple of countries as other cotton garments are.

You could purposely seek out eco-brands or make a new-to-you purchase at a consignment shop or thriftstore, but who says that jeans have to be made of cotton anyway?

Alternative materials such as bamboo and recycled fibers can prove to be slightly easier on the planet, but eco fashionistas know that creative inspiration can turn pretty much any type of trash into a suitable option for clothing.

Creative marketing departments are also demonstrating that type of resourcefulness -- specifically, Sony.

In honor of the grand opening of their latest brick and mortar location in the Ginza District of Tokyo, they have created a unique line of jeans carved from advertising banners that were used to promote their new store.

Available in a limited edition series of just 120 pairs, each is completely original featuring the distinctive characteristics of an assortment of bold banners, and a portion of the profit that Sony makes will be donated to global World Heritage Sites.

Consumers must place an order for their custom made jeans right in the Tokyo store and though they might end up looking like an 80s fashion casualty wearing their new duds, they can at least hold their heads up high knowing that they are supporting a good cause.
