Luminescent Recycled PET Jewelry

No matter how many public campaigns are launched alerting people about the negative impacts that plastic water bottles have on the environment, I've still noticed far too many bottles crunched in the parking lots of grocery stores and jutting out from garbage cans even though they are FULLY RECYCLABLE!!!

This drives me batty, and apart from rescuing what seems like hundreds of bottles from the garbage bins of my city, I am just one person...but this type of careless regard for the environment is going on all over the world.

Malaysian architectural designer and artistic renaissance woman Lisa Foo, noted most recently for her imaginative PET lighting collaboration with landscape designer Su Sim, has developed a side project parlaying her love of preserving the environment by developing a 100% recycled PET plastic jewelry line.

As with her renowed series of sculptural lighting fixtures that were painstakingly handcut with scissors and shaped into stunningly surreal shapes that glowed from within, LFSS' Eco Accessory Collection is also equally as outstanding to look at.

Precious metals can't hold a candle to these delicate, wispy and often ethereal pieces -- but her whole purpose in creating them is to demonstrate that a water bottle has far more life left in it when we sit down at our kitchen tables and begin cutting.

It doesn't require any formal training or precise cutting skills -- just the desire to rethink how you live and what you choose to do with items that are no longer needed for the original purpose they were initially designed for.

Does this inspire you to rethink what's in your recycling bin and try your hand at creating your own handcrafted recycled plastic holiday gifts?
