No Surprise...Skateboards Gliding Into The Home Decor & Personal Accessories Market

I love a good skateboard -- the design, the graphics, and especially the "feel" -- once you hop on and glide away, all of your cares seem to fall by the wayside.

Skateboarding culture has existed for some time and has been depicted in such movies a WASSUP ROCKERS and Lords of Dogtown (starring the late, great Heath Ledger), but I never imagined that it would melt into the world of eco-friendly goods.

I guess it makes sense though -- and whether you ride with your peeps or you just like edgy design and doing right by Mother Nature, you're going to dig this run down of upcycled skateboard goodies.

First off is Roarockit Skateboard School's custom-built skateboard deck stairway. Seems like they aren't so much reclaimed as they are repurposed, but they are pretty sweet nonetheless.

Then, we've got these skateboard shelves and radial table (I'll take one of each, thank you very much!)

Next up are these Philly-made deckstools constructed from old and oftentimes broken skateboard decks.

Designers Pierre Andre Senizergues and Gil Le Bon De LaPointe create some very rad pieces for the Skate Study House, including a room divider that definitely makes the most out of post-skateboard wood scraps while still looking intentionally classy.

Beck(y) City designer Beck Hickey of turns scuffed skateboards into cool fashion pieces, including hand clutches like this one.

Then there are the surprisingly vast array of companies that turn seen-better-days decks into jewelry.

Art pieces aren't uncommon either, and I'm really digging this mosaic made by "Regrind" from over 300 hand-cut, individually selected pieces of recycled skateboards.

I wouldn't mind adding one of these Tokyo Cube dayplanner notebooks to my collection, either!
