Recycled Plastic Spoon Furniture Offers A Tasty Bite Of Creative Design

If you asked me 5, even 6 years ago what I thought of plastic disposable cutlery, I would have happily replied, "It's grrrrrrrrrr-eat! Like I really want to wash the dishes more than I already have to?"
I'm singing a very different tune these days, and now, even though I still have boxes of the stuff stockpiled away for birthday parties and festive gatherings galore, I've been...well...washing it after each party so that I don't contribute to the landfill problem.

Okay, that may sound a little ridiculous, but hey, sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. I just tell myself that it's all in the name of being greener.
Studio Verissimo, a famous design house from Portugal, is doing something a lot more bold with plastic silverware...something that makes a huge impact visually, stylistically and environmentally.

Their 'Spoon Collection '09' is a series of geometric home furnishing designs composed from thousands of melted red plastic spoons that are used just once to stir coffee before being chucked.
I wonder what happened to the curved part that would normally hold your yogurt or icecream -- it appears to be missing in action.

Hopefully they melted those pieces into NEW red plastic pieces for their furniture. Looks pretty striking though, doesn't it?
Would you be happy to incorporate their designs into your home, or are you entirely allergic to the idea of plastic (even if it's recycled)?
