Have you ever stopped to wonder what happens to all of the wood shavings and sawdust that is a by-product of the furniture industry?

Clean, processed wood shavings that are of a uniform grade are widely used for animal bedding, but the dust can cause respiratory issues so it's not exactly ideal.

I've heard that companies are now pelletizing wood shavings and sawdust in an effort to create safer types of bedding, so that's a plus, but furniture manufacturers might want to consider hanging onto their scraps in light of Yoav Avinoam's clever recycling concept.

The recent graduate of Jerusalem's Bezalel Academy of Art and Design blends various wood shavings with resin and then presses the mix into a mold where his furniture's would-be legs are already in place.

Once the mixture hardens, it emerges as a pretty impressive eco-friendly stool with a nice little funky vibe.

I can imagine this one being snapped up in a heartbeat!

Who says furniture has to be created out of flawless cuts of wood to be stylish and desirable?
