Oxygen-Generating Furniture? Mais Oui, When Air Plants Are Part Of The Design!

The last time you were moseying through the aisles of your local garden center, do you recall seeing an air plant?
Maybe you're even the proud owner of one -- they're so appealing because they require so little to thrive.

Found mostly in the tropics, air plants (or "epiphytes") don't actually need soil to draw nutrients from-- in fact they manufacture their own food via photosynthesis and they obtain whatever moisture they require from the air or a host plant.
Commonly found growing on the trunk, branches, or leaves of another plant, the best known types of epiphytes are orchids, ferns, members of the pineapple family and bromeliads like Spanish moss.

Industrial designer Mingling Wang has cleverly integrated these low-maintenance oxygen producers into her Oxygen of Green indoor furniture concept, resulting in a lush green interior design statement that serves to purify your internal environment, too.
Do you like the idea of incorporating living furniture into your room?

With Wang's piece, its brilliance lies within the fact that you can be a brown thumb and still maintain a lush, oxygen-heavy garden just an arms length away from the remote control.
I have a feeling this set-up wouldn't do well in a house full of cats, though...my four felines are notorious for uprooting or flattening any "offending" greenery that their inquisitive noses catch a whiff of!
