Martha Stewart has launched one thousand and one lifestyle trends (probably even more) in her career as a domestic doyenne and she shows no signs of stopping.

Not surprisingly, I've noticed that almost any new green-themed design idea that I encounter online is invariably traceable back to something that was in the pages of Stewart's magazine -- call it the six degrees of Stewart separation?

Wasn't she the first one to launch the notion of a living grass centerpiece? Well, Martha's eco-cronies are embracing mini lawns in all sorts of indoor configurations these days, but J Yu's Hour///Gras Living Wall concept clock takes the cake.

Rather than nurturing grass in a simple pot and maintaining it with a pair of scissors or an eager pet guinea pig, Yu has created a wall mountable stainless steel and glass body frame that can accomodate any greenery of your choice.

While the idea of passing time as you watch your mini garden grow is somewhat nice, Yu's clock is endowed with more intelligence than you might imagine.

Its innate ability to mow overachieving greens into a more respectable length via its sharpened hour and minute hands is altogether savvy, novel and yet somewhat dopey.

I realize that everyone on the planet seems to keep a demanding, time-crunched schedule, but how much of a commitment would it require to whip out our kitchen shears and trim away...2 seconds?

In any event, Yu has made the time and greenery-keeping device quite convenient by designing on board grates that enable trimmed organic matter to drop down into a slide out container for quick-and-easy composting or to convert into Scooby snacks for a willing veggie in the family.

Would you proudly dust off a place on your wall for the Hour///Gras Living Clock?
